Lantern making has high appeal as a community arts medium because you don't need to be an accomplished artist to make an
attractive lantern. The technology is simple and the materials relatively inexpensive. Using glow sticks and LED lights to illuminate the lanterns removes the fire risk hazard. A mass of lanterns are spectacular adding a sense of magic to an evening event.

2011 Tambo's 'Chill Out' Ted An ambitious community art project to make in one week, a 9 metre long, articulated, illuminated Big Ted lantern that floated on
the Tambo Lake for the Tambo Teddy Bear's Picnic Weekend. Edged of the lake was adorned with 70 individual teepee lanterns made local school students. A Flying Arts Alliance project
